The President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte wants to revive the "Botika ng Bayan," project first initiated by former Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Pres. Duterte will use the P5-billion PAGCOR funds to revive the program.

Botika ng Bayan was first implemented by former Pres. Arroyo to make available frequently used medicines at half the price for the less privileged Filipino which includes senior citizens.

According to Pres. Duterte he will used the P5 billion fund turned over by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) to establish drug stores that would provide the poor areas access to free medicines.

PAGCOR assistant vice president for community relations and services Arnell Ignacio said Duterte had told them that he wanted to revive the Botika ng Bayan.

Pres. Duterte earlier revealed that part of the P5 billion fund from PAGCOR will be used for another rehab center somewhere in Visayas.

PAGCOR chairperson handed the P5 billion fund from the agency during a courtesy call in MalacaƱang

Arnell Ignacio, assistant vice president at gaming regulator PAGCOR, also announced that the agency also provides the Dangerous Drugs Board P5 million every month to support its programs.
