Pres. Duterte to Launch National Color-Coded Agri Guide Map Which was Done in Just 5 Months

Farming is no longer be a guessing game according to Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol who announced on social media that Pres. Rody Duterte will launch the country's color-coded agri guide map.

According to the Department of Agriculture, the color-coded agri guide map was made possible in just 5 months since Pres. Duterte took over as President and Sec. Piñol managed the Department of Agriculture.

Pres. Rody Duterte once promised to farmers and fisher folks that the national survey for agriculture will be completed in six months but due to the speed of the DA's work, the project finished one month ahead of the target completion.

Sec. Manny Piñol noted that the National Color-Coded Agriculture Guide (NACCAG) Map will now serve as the guide for Filipino farmers on what type of soil they have in their farms, what kind of crops are ideal, what soil nutrients does their farms need and what are the risks and hazards that they must be prepared for.

PRESIDENT DUTERTE TO LAUNCH
COLOR-CODED AGRI GUIDE MAP

By Manny Piñol

Now, farming will no longer be a guessing game.
Within the month, President Rody Duterte will launch the National Color-Coded Agriculture Guide-Map which he promised to do for the Filipino farmers during the campaign.

The national survey was finished and completed one month ahead of the 6-month period that President Duterte promised to deliver it to the Filipino farmers and fisher folks.

The NACCAG, as the program will later be called for brevity, will now serve as the guide for Filipino farmers on what type of soil they have in their farms, what kind of crops are ideal, what soil nutrients does their farms need and what are the risks and hazards that they must be prepared for.

Those who would like to know what crop is suitable in his farm, for example, will only have to access the website which will be announced after President Duterte launches it sometime this month.

By typing the name of his village and town, the website will download data needed by the farmer to decide on what plant to grow based on soil suitability and climatic conditions.

For agricultural investors, on the other hand, they only have to type name of the crop that they would like to invest in and the website will generate the list of areas where this could be grown ideally.

The Filipino fishermen, on the other hand, would get an update on the weather conditions and the risks and hazards they face when going out to sea.

All the information would be accessible through smartphones and computers which the Department of Agriculture would start to provide to the farmers and fishermen's groups by next year.

The NACCAG is part of the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiatives in Agriculture (AMIA) project which is part of the preparation of the DA for climate change.

The AMIA was bared to the public in a soft launching ceremony at the DA central office in Quezon City on Thursday.

During the launching this month, members of the Senate and Congress, Governors, Mayors and leaders of farmers and fisher folks will be invited to witness the event to understand how it will help their constituents and members.

After the launching by President Duterte, seminars and workshops will be conducted at the local level so that ordinary farmers and fishermen would know how to access the website.

Smartphones and tablets will also be distributed to the different farmers and fishermen's groups as part of the program.

With the launching of the NACCAG, agriculture in the Philippines will never be the same again.
