Pres. Duterte Attends Groundbreaking Ceremony of Bicol International Airport (Video)


The President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte attends the groundbreaking ceremony of the highly anticipated but long-delayed Bicol International Airport. Pres. Duterte attended the groundbreaking held on December 12, 2016.


The P4.8 billion international airport terminal in Bicol which was delayed during the administration of Pres. Arroyo and Pres. Aquino begins the groundbreaking ceremony attended by some of the country's most prominent political figures.

According to Pres. Duterte during his visit to Bicol, he promised that the Bicol International Airport will be finished within 2-3 years under his administration.


Pres. Duterte also discussed his visions for the Philippines to become a Federal State before his terms ends and he assured the Filipino public that he is willing to resign once the Federal system will set into motion.

The BIA Development Project was initially planned in 2010 with a budget amounting to Php1.544 billion. It aims to develop a new airport with international standards and would replace the existing Legaspi City Airport to accommodate bigger aircrafts and serve a larger volume of passengers.
