P350-Million Drug Rehab Project Soon to Rise in Davao City

Presidential daughter Mayor Inday Sara Duterte led the ground breaking ceremony of the Davao City Treatment and Rehabilitation Center worth P350 million funded by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Resorts World Manila.

The soon-to-rise 1.9 hectare rehabilitation center was put up in Davao City because the war on drugs started in the country's largest city two decades ago under the leadership of former Mayor Rody Duterte.

According to Kingson U Sian, President of Resorts World Philippines Cultural Heritage Foundation explained why is it he chooses Davao City for the project when somebody asked him why he chose the city and just answered with a question "why not."

The rehab center in Davao City, the hometown of Pres. Rody Duterte has a floor plan of seven thousand square meters with 224 bed capacity, there is also a world-class visiting and dining area.

The newest and bigger rehab center was built in Davao to decongest the old rehab center in Bago Oshiro which has only a maximum capacity of 100 people.

According to Mayor Sara Duterte, the modern rehab center is expected to be completed before the end of 2017 and because of the nationwide War on Drugs of the government, more drug dependents were surrendered to the City government of Davao.
