Sass Rogando Sasot Reveals the Amount of US Direct Investments to the Philippines

One of the country's most popular social media personality supporting the cause of President Rody Duterte, Sass Rogando Sasot made a very interesting post about the exact amount of foreign direct investment of the United States to the Philippines.

For the past few days, most of the Philippines news media outlets reported that without the US, the Philippines will be in trouble economically because of their huge investments in the Philippines but Sasot discovered something which is worth sharing.

According to Sass Rogando Sasot the data came from the Bureau of Economic Analysis of the US Department of Commerce, the Philippines only got around $22 million which is way behind the $882 million received by our neighbor Singapore.

Here's the Complete Statement of Sasot:

BEYOND #FriendsPartnersAllies
THE TRUTH ABOUT US DIRECT INVESTMENT IN THE PHILIPPINES

According to the data of the Bureau of Economic Analysis of the US Department of Commerce, there are 14 recipients of direct investments from the United States.

I computed the direct investments made by the United States from 2011-2015 (the years of the Aquino administration). I also removed three recipients: Australia, New Zealand, and Others.
Guess what...among the 11 countries left, the Philippines is #11th recipient of US Direct Investment from 2011-2015.

Here's the ranking, removing Australia, New Zealand, and Others (in million US dollars):

Singapore 882,334
Japan 571,616
China 310,689
Hong Kong 284,099
Korea 160,499
India 124,738
Taiwan 78,709
Malaysia 65,016
Indonesia 62,859
Thailand 55,534
Philippines 22,249
