Build, Build, Build: The Duterte Administration's Infrastructure Plan

For the very first time in the history of the Philippines, the four major infrastructure agencies of the national government are talking and coordinating to present the Duterte administration's infrastructure project in one simple but repeated words which is Build, Build, Build.

The four major agencies includes the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

NEDA is represented by its head Socioeconmic Planning Sec. Ernesto Pernia, DPWH Sec. Martin Andanar, DOTr Sec. Arthur Tugade, and BCDA President and CEO Vince Dizon.

The press conference was held at the New Executive Building in MalacaƱang on November 3, 2016. Aside from the heads of the four Departments, other members of the Cabinet were also present, they were Presidential Communications (PCO) Sec. Martin Andanar, and Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.

According to the Cabinet members mentioned above the Duterte admin's infrastructure plan will be the solution in some of the country's major problems such as employment, high prices of commodities, and the rampant traffic and transportation problems.

The Cabinet Members also noted that the Infrastructure spending of the Duterte administration in just four months in office as Chief Executive will be the highest so far compared to the previous administration since the Marcos time.

Pres. Duterte's infrastructure spending on his first year as President would be 5.4% to GDP which is way higher compared to Pres. Marcos' 3.2%, Pres. Cory Aquino, Ramos and Estrada's 2.2%. Pres. Arroyo's infrastructure spending is just 1.9%, the lowest so far while Pres. Noynoy Aquino's infrastructure project is at 2.9%  in six years.
