The highly anticipated visit of Swedish businessmen to the Philippines only proved that the country is not affected with various negative news presented by our news media outlets, instead they keep their trust in the Philippines positive economic growth.

In an exclusive discussion with some Manila Times reporter, Sweden’s ambassador-designate Harald Fries told the editorial team that with the success of Swedish brands such as clothing retailer H&M in the Philippine mass market as well as presence of furniture chain Ikea and Volvo Buses, no Swedish company has become hesitant to do business in the Philippines despite the controversy surrounding the leadership of Pres. Rody Duterte.

Instead of doubting Pres. Duterte’s shift in foreign policy, the Swedish businessmen are now eager to do business in the country. The Swedish Ambassador-designate noted that “actually, there are more and more companies signing up,” to do business here in the Philipines.

One of the most prominent business entity who wanted to worked closely with the Philippine government is the defense contractor Saab Group, which is scheduled to inaugurate its office at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig this coming November 9, 2016.

Sweden’s biggest-ever delegations of businessmen who will visit the Philippines next month is lead by Swedish Minister of Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg. The visit also coincides with the re-opening of the Swedish Embassy in Taguig, Metro Manila.

Some of the most prominent European companies based in Sweden will send their representatives to visit the Philippines. Companies like Atlas Copco, Ericsson, Scania Group, SED, Swedish Match and Volvo Buses will join the delegations to discuss business opportunities here in the Philippines under the leadership of Pres. Rody Duterte. The mission of the business delegation is to promote trade and investment exchange with the Philippines.
