MMDA Inaugurates Two New Ferry Boats for the Pasig River Ferry System


The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) headed by General Manager Tim Orbos inaugurated the two new additional ferry boats at the Guadalupe station in Makati City for the Pasig River Ferry System. The inauguration of the newest asset of the MMDA was held on October 24, 2016.


According to MMDA Gen. Manager Tim Orbos the new ferry boats bring to 14 the total number of vessels going to and from the 11 stations along the Pasig River, from Pasig City up to the City of Manila.

In order to look for alternative mode of transport, the Duterte administration are still looking for ways to ease the traffic problems in Metro Manila and the Ferry Boat Service was one of the ideas to counter the traffic problems in the Metro.

The new ferries inaugurated by MMDA were made by Cebu-based Storial Marine Corporation, the ferry service can accommodate up to 15 passengers.

The Pasig River Passenger Ferry service served Pinagbuhatan and San Joaquin in Pasay City; Guadalupe and Valenzuela in Makati City; Hulo in Mandaluyong City; PUP Sta. Mesa, Sta. Ana, Lambingan, lawton, Escolta, and Plaza Mexico, all in Manila.

During the inaugurations of the two new vessels, MMDA Gen. Manager urged the Filipinos to support the project. He was quoted as saying "The more you support it, the more becomes viable"
