Albuera Mayor Roland Espinosa Arrested for Violating the Dangerous Drugs Act

Critics of President Rody Duterte might be silenced with this recent development as Police operatives from Albuera, Leyte arrested Mayor Roland Espinosa for violating the country's Dangerous Drugs Act.

The arrest warrant was presented by the PNP to Mayor Espinosa for alleged possession of 11.4 kilos of illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms that were found in his home during a raid in August.

Albuera, Leyte Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido said during a media interview that the arrest was made after authorities received the warrant of arrest order issued by the court.

The PNP confirmed that police authorities in Leyte nabbed Mayor Espinosa at past 8:00 AM for cases of illegal possession of firearms and explosives and possession of illegal drugs.

The 54-year-old Mayor Roland Espinosa was taken for processing to a court in Baybay City, Leyte under Judge Carlos Arguelles, who issued the warrant of arrest.

Mayor Roland Espinosa was one of those mentioned by Pres. Rody Duterte last August 1, 2016 who were involved in illegal drug trades in the country. During that time, Pres. Duterte demanded the surrender of Mayor Espinosa and his alleged drug lord son, Kerwin but only the older Espinosa surrendered.
