Sec. Aguirre Reveals that a DOJ Employee Deposited Millions on Ronnie Dayan's Bank Account

The Secretary of Justice under Pres. Rody Duterte, Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II disclosed on Thursday that an employee of the Department of Justice (DOJ) during Sen. De Lima's term executed an affidavit that the senator instructed him to deposit millions of pesos to Ronnie Dayan's account.

Ronnie Dayan is the controversial driver and body guard of the former DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima during the term of the Aquino administration.

According to Sec. Aguirre an employee of DOJ identified as Jonathan "Jong" Caranto had executed an affidavit against De Lima claiming that the senator instructed him to deposit millions of pesos to the account of De Lima's driver and alleged lover Ronnie Dayan.

Jonathan Caranto was described by DOJ Sec. Aguirre as one of the two employees of Sec. De Lima who had allegedly executed affidavits against her.

Aside from Jonathan Caranto, the other former DOJ employee who was named in some media reports was identified as Edna "Bogs" Obuyes.

The controversial Ronnie Dayan made headlines earlier when President Rody Duterte tagged him as the bagman who had collected drug payoffs for Sen. De Lima.

The present DOJ Secretary noted during an interview with the reporters that the former DOJ employees he identified voluntarily executed an affidavit against Sen. De Lima to clear their names. The two employees are also willing to undergo a lie detector test if needed to prove their allegations.
