Malacanang Released Official Statements on Davao City Bombing


The huge explosion in a night market in Davao City caused the death of at least 14 people and dozens were injured. The local government units of Davao City and the national government already released their official statements on social media.


The real culprit behind the Davao City bombing is still under investigation but authorities already released an initial statement that the bombing was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella released the following statement on social media right after the confirmed explosion in Davao City:

"An explosion of still unverified cause occurred at the Davao night market resulting in the death of at least 10 persons and around 60 people injured.
While no one has yet claimed responsibility it is best that the populace refrain from reckless speculation and avoid crowded places.
There is no cause for alarm, but it is wise to be cautious."

Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte of Davao City also released an official statement through the official Facebook Page of Davao City LGU.


Here's the statement of Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte:

"Let us pray for the victims of this unfortunate incident, especially for those who died. Let us pray for those who are being treated in different hospitals and pray for their quick recovery. There are at least 10 people who perished because of the incident and a number were reported wounded.
Rest assured the authorities are on top of this incident"

"Right now, we cannot yet give definite answer to as to who is behind this as we are also trying to determine what really exploded."

"It's a sad day for Davao and for the Philippines."

Meanwhile PRO XI Regional Director Police Chief Manuel Gaerlan also aired his concerns and official statement with the Davao City Bombing incident:

"PNP is assuring the public that the situation is being handled carefully. A thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the explosion and checkpoints/chokepoints were already established at all exit points in the city. We call on all the people to be vigilant at all times and report to the police any suspicious packages or persons. Please refrain from creating/passing misleading or unverified reports to avoid confusion and panic.
