Mayor Espinosa Reveals Identity of Senator Who Served as Protector of his Son Kerwin

Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa revealed the names and identities of personalities who were involved in various illegal drug activities of his son, Kerwin Espinosa, the alleged leader of the Eastern Visayas drug syndicate.

Mayor Espinosa's list of alleged drug cohorts of his son includes several police officers, members of the Philippine Congress and it even include a senator who served as Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary.

In a news report posted by GMA News reporter Jay Sable he noted that Mayor Espinosa was supposed to reveal the identities of some 30 individuals he mentioned in his affidavit but later on he changed his mind for fear of his life and the lives of his loved ones.

When Mayor Espinosa was asked by some reporters about the identities involved in the Eastern Visayas drug trade, the mayor revealed the names of Congressmen and even a senator on his sworn affidavit.

Although Mayor Espinosa did not directly name the controversial senator Leila De Lima as one of his son's protectors, the chief of Police in Albuera town noted that he saw the affidavit and identified the involved senator as a former DOJ Secretary.

The Albuera chief of police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido claimed he saw the ledger that was the basis of the affidavit. Espenido confirmed the affidavit pointed to a senator who is probably a former secretary of justice.

"May senador nga. May senador (na) isa, nakita ko. Dating secretary ng DOJ siguro yun... Nakita ko lang," Espenido said.
