With the impending departure of Othyus Jeffers, Talk 'N Text will bring NBA veteran Rodney Carney as reinforcement

After a sudden exit of import Othyus Jeffers, the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters are in a hurry to find a replacement in the PLDT Home Telpad Governors’ Cup.

But the Tropang Texters won't just recruit a low-caliber player and is citing a high-profile import just like Jeffers as a possible replacement.

The Tropang Texters had to let go of Jeffers because of complications with his clearance with FIBA after the Minnesota Timberwolves wrote the basketball body about the player.

Jeffers is in the final line-up of Minnesota in the past NBA season after sharing Most Valuable Player honors in the NBA D-League.

Team manager Paolo Trillo confirmed the report and said that they are eyeing former NBA first round pick Rodney Carney with the impending departure of Jeffers.

The NBA veteran Carney, who was selected No. 16 by the Chicago Bulls in the 2006 NBA Draft, is coming off a stint for top club Sporting Al-Riyadi Beiruit in the Lebanese Basketball League.

But the Bulls then traded Carney and a 2007 second-round draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for their 13th pick, Thabo Sefolosha, who is currently the staring shooting guard of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

During his NBA career, he has also played with the Minnesota Timberwolves and had a preseason stint with the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and with the New Orleans Pelicans this season.

This means that Jeffers’ status for Talk ‘N Text for their match against Alaska on Monday night is still uncertain and there is a possibility that the Tropang Texters will play all-Filipino.
