San Miguel set to bring back Elijah Millsap as reinforcement following the Beermen’s latest debacle

1 min read

The San Miguel Beermen suffered another forgettable exit in the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup after the second-seeded team in the eliminations was getting crushed by a twice-to-beat advantage by an inspired 7th-seeded Air 21 Express.

The Beermen’s spirit might be broken but they must move on instantly as the Governor’s Cup will open right away after this conference.

With this, San Miguel has set their eyes on bringing back Elijah Millsap for the Beermen’s quest for redemption in the season-ending conference.

Millsap’s Redemption

Millsap played and blended well with Petron, former name of San Miguel, and even gave them a Finals’ berth but was denied by sister-team team San Mig Coffee of a title.
The 6″4 Millsap is the younger brother of Atlanta Hawks All-Star forward Paul Millsap.
Millsap averaged 28.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.1 steals as the Boosters lost a griping seven-game Finals series against eventual Governors Cup champion San Mig Coffee Mixers last season.
“Under negotiation now but he’s (Millsap) our priority,” a team insider told Spin.ph on Tuesday.
The Beermen coaching staff remains silent just days after the team’s latest debacle.
Still, the team believes Millsap’s entry would entail little adjustment since the sweet-shooting former University Alabama-Birmingham standout is already familiar with the PBA brand of play.
Millsap went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft and never played in the NBA despite being signed by four NBA teams in the preseason but did’nt make the final cut.

Millsap is coming off a stint with the Maccabi Ashdod in the Israeli League before re-joining the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA D-League early this month.

And if Millsap will be signed, the Beermen will not worry anymore with the chemistry of the import because of his familiarity with the team.

But Millsap must also adjust to the system of the new coaching staffs of San Miguel lead by coach Biboy Ravales and active consultant Todd Purves.
