Yeng Guiao not giving up on import Alex McLean but is still open for possible replacement

Rain Or Shine is struggling to start the conference but coach Yeng Guiao is not giving up on import Alex McLean.
However, Guiao is open to possible replacement and is still evaluating McLean's performance.

McLean put up a monster game, however the  team still loss to San Miguel Beer,112-105 on Wednesday.
Guiao said it remains to be seen if the former Liberty University Flames forward can sustain his stellar play.
“Yung kagabi (Wednesday night), it’s (McLean’s solid game) a good sign, pero you just need to have an open mind,” Guiao told Spin.ph on Thursday.
“Yes, he (McLean) played well but the question is, ‘Can he sustain it?’”
The 6’8” McLean produced 33 points, his best offensive game in his three-game PBA stint, to go along with 14 rebounds. His three-point shot gave the Elasto Painters a 101-98 lead entering the last four minutes of the down-the-wire endgame against the Beermen.
The 28-year-old Bayshore, New York native has averaged 24.3 points and 16.0 rebounds in the team’s first three games.
The fiery Rain or Shine mentor said they are not pressing the panic button at this point even though his team started the shortened PBA Commissioner’s Cup elimination round with a 1-2 slate.
“It’s encouraging because Alex is getting better, pero kailangan pa rin maging open-minded. I’m not saying na papalitan siya or not since he’s not the cause why we lost the game against San Miguel, kundi dahil sa turnovers namin 'yun,” he added.
Rain or Shine has six games left to go in the nine-game elimination round, where the top two teams earn the twice-to-beat incentive.
The Elasto Painters aregoing to face an acid test on Saturday when they play arch-rival San Mig Super Coffee in their first meeting since their heated Philippine Cup Finals series, which the Mixers won.
San Mig has opened the conference with back-to-back wins. Import James Mays posted solid numbers of 29 points and 29 rebounds to lead the team to a 90-80 lynching of Barangay Ginebra last Sunday.
Rain Or Shine don't need to panic still but they must rack up wins to avoid being in the deep hole considering how short this conference is.
