San Miguel favors Kevin Jones over Josh Boone as import despite monster games from the latter

Despite two impressive games from NBA veteran Josh Boone, San Miguel Beermen still decided to replace their import in favor of former Cleveland Cavaliers' Kevin Jones
for the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup.

Boone had a monster game against powerhouse Ginebra scoring 32 points and grabbing 21 rebounds following a 16-point and 16-rebound debut with the Beermen against Meralco.

The Beermen, with the help of Boone, have rolled to two straight wins in the conference despite the absence of star center and reigning Best Player of the Conference's June Mar Fajardo.

San Miguel Beer coach Biboy Ravanes disclosed the development to InterAksyon on Monday.

“We would like to thank Josh for his effort and professionalism. He showed a lot of heart while wearing a Beerman uniform. We look forward to enjoying Josh’s future success as he will always be a member of the Beermen family,” Ravanes said.

Boone's Replacement

San Miguel Beer will now be reinforced by NBA D-League standout Kevin Jones, who was reportedly
already in town to replace Boone before the Beermen played their first game.

Ravanes said that Jones joined some coaches for shootaround on Monday and will practice with the team on Tuesday.

Jones' Career

Jones went undrafted in the 2012 NBA draft but in September 2012, Jones was signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Even though, he was later waived by the team on October 27, 2012.

In November 2012, he was acquired by the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League.

On November 29, 2012, after playing three games for the Charge, where he averaged 27.0 points and 13.7 rebounds per game, he was re-signed by the Cavaliers.

On the same day, he was assigned to the Charge. He was recalled by the Cavs on December 4, 2012, but was sent back to the Charge for other assignments throughout the season.

On July 19, 2013, he was waived by the Cavaliers.

In November 2013, he was re-acquired by the Charge.

On February 3, 2014, Jones was named to the Futures All-Star roster for the 2014 NBA D-League All-Star Game.

On March 8, 2014, Jones' contract was bought out by the Charge in order for him to sign with San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association.
