Renren Ritualo picked up by Alaska but won't be suiting up for them this conference

Renren Ritualo may have been lucky that he was picked up immediately by the Alaska Aces
after he was given his release papers by Air21 Express on Tuesday.

However, the Aces have no plan to add the 2002 Rookie of the Year to its team this conference.

Alaska coach Luigi Trillo on Wednesday divulged reports that the Aces are adding the "Rainman" to the team in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, saying they wouldn’t want to ruin the team’s chemistry.

“We met Renren yesterday (Tuesday) but at this time, what we told him is once his contract expires... we’ll take a look at him," Trillo told Spin.ph, explaining that taking the veteran guard "might ruin" the chemistry of the team.

Trillo said the Aces have nine players with contracts expiring at the end of the season, adding the offseason would be a perfect time for Ritualo to come in and try out for a spot in the team.

The 34-year-old Ritualo’s current contract expires in August.

Other Teams Interested

However, if another PBA team shows interest in signing up Ritualo, Trillo assured Alaska won't stand in the way.

Ritualo, the eighth overall rookie pick in the 2002 PBA draft, was given his release papers by Air21 on Tuesday morning after a bid to include him in the Vic Manuel-Aldrech Ramos trade failed to materialize.

Originally drafted by the Express, Ritualo was traded to Talk ‘N Text in 2006, was brough back to Air21 in 2010, before joining the Powerade Tigers in the 2010-11 season.

He also played for Meralco in 2011 before finding his way back to Air21 to reunite with former De La Salle coach Franz Pumaren.

Ritualo’s notable PBA accomplishments also include being named the 2002 PBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee as well as its three-point shooting champion in 2008.
