Ginebra's two straight losses due to lack of efforts, says Tenorio

Last conference, Barangay Ginebra was unstoppable at this time in rout to the best record in the elimination round.

But this conference, the Gin Kings have struggled to start the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup.

Ginebra had to survive a tough Barako Bull challenge in their opening match that went to overtime, but thanks to Chris Ellis' 3-pointer that saved them the victory.

However, the Gin Kings dropped their next two games to sister-teams San Miguel Beer and San Mig Coffee.

The Beermen lectured Ginebra with a 112-96 victory which was led by former import Josh Boone's 32 points and 19 rebounds.

So what’s wrong with the Gin Kings this season?

“Same story,” said Ginebra star guard LA Tenorio. “Second chance points, offensive rebounds, turnover points. We really need to work on that. Ever since, yun na yung problem namin.”

In Sunday’s Manila Clasico matchup against the Mixers, Ginebra turned the ball over 17 times. San Mig Coffee dominated Ginebra off the boards, 62-48, with Mixers import James Mays grabbing 29 rebounds — including 12 off the offensive end.

“Sobra yun,” said Tenorio.

The team is also adjusting to a new offensive system brought in by assistant coach Juno Sauler, who has been calling the shots on the sidelines for the squad beside head coach Ato Agustin.

The Gin Kings totaled just nine assists against San Mig Coffee.

When Ginebra finally adjust to Sauler's system expect them to finally rack wins but they must hurry it up because the Commissioner's Cup is just a single-round elimination.
