PBA scoring champion Gary David showed his humble beginning in his journey as a basketball player.
David, dubbed as "El Granada" was the subject of the second episode of the “Kuwentong Gilas” documentary series on Monday Shown on TV5 as part of its special in its "Road To Spain" campaign for the FIBA World Cup In August in Spain.
El Granada detailed his rise from a humble varsity aspirant at Lyceum into one of the top shooters of the Philippine national men’s basketball team.
David was heartened by the response to his story from viewers, who were enthralled by his rise through the basketball ranks from his beginnings in Dinalupihan, Bataan.
“Salamat sa lahat ng sumubaybay ng aking istorya,” he wrote in a text message to Sports5. “Sana na-inspire ko ang mga players na galing sa hirap at sa mga players na naglalaro sa school na wala sa UAAP at NCAA.
“Sipag at tiyaga talaga ang puhunan, mga idol.”
David’s tale touched the hearts of many fans and also aspiring players as the key to success is by working hard.
Kuwentong Gilas airs every Monday at 8 p.m. on TV5.
