FIBA Asia 2013 Format Released

The Philippine Team Gilas Pilipinas is bracketed in Group A with Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. The Top 3 teams in the elimination round will moved on to the next round or the second round of the competition.

Here’s the format of the FIBA Asia Championship:

In the Second Round, the Top 3 Teams from Group A and the Top 3 Teams from Group B will be group again and will formed Group E.

The same is through also with the Top 3 teams from both Group C and Group D, the top 6 teams will form a new Group which is the Group F.

In Group E, qualifiers from Group A play one match each against the qualifiers from Group B. In Group F, qualifiers from Group C play one match each against the qualifiers from Group D.

Knockout Stages

The top four teams from Group E and the top four teams from Group F move into the knockout quarterfinals:

– Group E 1st-place vs Group F 4th-place
– Group E 3rd-place vs Group F 2nd-place
– Group E 2nd-place vs Group F 3rd-place
– Group E 4th-place vs Group F 1st-place
